More about the Turkey Trot:
The Turkey Trot takes place Thursday, November 24, 2022 at Bismarck/Mandan Elks Lodge #1199. The Turkey Trot is sponsored by the Cystic Fibrosis Association of North Dakota and benefits North Dakotans living with CF.
32 years ago, a group of people banded together to raise money for a friend needing a double lung transplant due to complications from Cystic Fibrosis. They hosted a road race, called the “Thanks For Giving Road Race”, at Apple Creek Country Club on Thanksgiving Day. They teamed up with the Cystic Fibrosis Association of North Dakota (CFA) for matching funds for their friend’s lung transplant. Since then the race has moved to the shore of the Missouri River, and the name has changed to the Turkey Trot, but the heart of the race is the same — to help North Dakotans living with Cystic Fibrosis breathe easier.
The Cystic Fibrosis Association helps families financially by assisting them with the costs of medication, equipment, supplies, lung transplants, college scholarships and travel assistance for medical appointments.
