Volunteer with the Santa Run!

Picture
The North Dakota Santa Run is more than just a race — it’s a celebration of community, holiday spirit, and support for addiction recovery programs through Hope Manor. We’re calling on volunteers to help make this year’s event a success! Whether you're a seasoned volunteer or a first-time helper, there are plenty of ways to get involved and make a difference in the community.

Why Volunteer?

By volunteering at the Santa Run, you’re not just helping with a 5K—you’re making an impact on the lives of those in our community who are in recovery. Your support will help create a fun and festive atmosphere for participants and ensure the event runs smoothly. Plus, it’s a great way to meet new people, celebrate the holiday season and make lasting memories.
Bonus Perk: All volunteers will earn a free Santa Run t-shirt as a thank-you for their time and effort!

Volunteer Opportunities

We have several ways for you to get involved on December 14, 2024! Read on to learn more about each volunteer role and how you can contribute to this exciting event.

Race Setup and Takedown
  1. What you’ll do: Help us get Main Street ready for the race and assist with breaking everything down after the event. Tasks include setting up race signage, starting/finishing lines, and other race materials.
  2. Why it’s important: Volunteers are key in creating a safe and festive environment for the event. Your hard work helps ensure the race goes off without a hitch and everything is cleaned up afterward!

Registration and Packet Pickup
  1. What you’ll do: Greet participants, check them in, and hand out race packets that include race bibs, Santa suits, and other goodies.
  2. Why it’s important: This is where participants start their journey, and your friendly face sets the tone for the rest of their race experience. A smooth check-in process will make their day stress-free and fun.

Water Stations and Race Route Assistance
  1. What you’ll do: Set up and man water stations along the race route. You’ll also help guide runners, ensuring they stay on the course and encourage them with high energy!
  2. Why it’s important: Keeping runners hydrated and safe while offering positive encouragement is crucial to helping them complete the race.

Cheer Stations to Encourage Runners
  1. What you’ll do: Stand at key points along the race route and cheer on participants as they run or walk by. Help keep the energy high and give runners the motivation they need to keep going.
  2. Why it’s important: Positive reinforcement and encouragement can make a huge difference in a runner's experience.

Hot Cocoa and Treat Distribution
  1. What you’ll do: After the race, you’ll help serve up hot cocoa, snacks, and treats to runners and spectators, spreading that warm holiday cheer!
  2. Why it’s important: The post-race area is where participants can relax and enjoy some much-needed refreshments. You’ll be providing a welcome treat after they’ve completed the race!

End of the Race Walkers
  1. What you’ll do: Walk alongside the last few participants, providing support and encouragement. You’ll ensure that no runner feels left behind and help them reach the finish line safely.
  2. Why it’s important: Your role is vital in making sure that every participant has a positive race experience, no matter their pace.

Race Medal Distributors
  1. What you’ll do: Hand out medals to finishers as they cross the finish line and celebrate their achievement.
